Sudden message on startup of NETWORK ERROR
« on: September 07, 2020, 01:00:03 pm »
Symptoms - Your data is on a network drive. Everything has been working fine and you have made no changes. All of a sudden on program start you get a NETWORK ERROR message and the data directory changes to the local C: drive.

Cause - this appears to be due to a change in the networking component of the Windows 10 update 2004 which occurs automatically and without notice to you.

Solution - download and install version 44.0.1.41 or later as this has been rewritten to get around this problem.

You may need to examine this article -

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/networking/guest-access-in-smb2-is-disabled-by-default

This event indicates that the server tried to log on the user as an unauthenticated guest but was denied by the client. Guest logons do not support standard security features such as signing and encryption. Therefore, guest logons are vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks that can expose sensitive data on the network. Windows disables insecure (nonsecure) guest logons by default. Microsoft recommends that you do not enable insecure guest logons.
