The data directory in no longer available or has been entered wrongly causing the program to start and then exit.

Go to START. Type REGEDIT on the Run Line.

Browse to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER then SOFTWARE then ZIPZAP TPN INVOICE MODULE

The wrong data path will be on the right of the screen. Right click on the word DataPath and delete it.

Restart the program.

It seems that certain Intel Clover Trail processors are not compatible with this update at the moment.

These are used on some machines that have been produced in the last 3 years, including some HP machines.

« on: July 17, 2017, 11:28:44 am »
Ensure File and Printer sharing is turned on.

Go into Control Panel and Administrative Tools. Go to SERVICES. Click on the Standard tab.

Go down to Function Discovery Resource Publication. Turn this ON and set startup to AUTOMATIC.

Your computers should now appear in Network.

Following the update to the Creators Edition it seems that Kaspersky Secure Connection will no longer connect.

Update 12/07/2017 - this was reported to Kaspersky. The cure they found is to totally remove Secure Connection and then reinstall again with the latest version.

Update 14/07/2017 - further issues exist in the Safe Money option. The cure for this is to upgrade to Kaspersky Internet Security 2018.

Cybersecurity / Petya virus - vaccinate against it
« on: July 03, 2017, 09:12:37 am »
There is a way to vaccinate a computer against Petya.

Here is a link -

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/vaccine-not-killswitch-found-for-petya-notpetya-ransomware-outbreak/

The advice consists of creating a file called perfc in the C:\Windows directory and setting it to read-only.

YOU MUST DO THIS ON EVERY COMPUTER RUNNING WINDOWS.

Note: The data files of our programs have file extenssions of FIC, NDX and MMO. These are not trashed by Petya or Wannacry viruses.

« on: June 27, 2017, 10:21:10 pm »
The latest Linux update for Zeus caused all sorts of problems. The Bulletin Board simply stopped working.

The Apache server had to be reinstalled, the PHP reinstalled, the MySQL updated and the web pages updated. Took a couple of hours.

Fortunately it was after normal working hours.

All seems to be back to normal.

Windows / Skype issues 19/06/2017 - 21/06/2017
« on: June 23, 2017, 08:31:51 am »
Microsoft has reported issues with Skype over this period. It looks to have been caused by a deliberate external 'attack' on their systems.

Problems ranged from logging in issues to not being able to use the system.

TPN Invoicing / File Manager use
« on: June 21, 2017, 09:14:52 am »
The File Manager appears on the Utilities menu. It is a routine to repair corrupted or damaged files.

Corruption is never a good sign and indicates an underlying problem. It occurs very rarely on an individual computer and is normally associated with network or hardware issues when the data is held on a server or NAS drive. You should not run a Fix on files as a routine. You should actively look for the cause of any data corruption.

It is recommended that you perform the File Fix on a single file at a time. Log everyone out before performing a File Fix.

If the File Manager finds errors in a file then you should be aware that if it cannot fix the individual record then it will remove it. Therefore before you perform a Fix then you should perform a backup.

Normally a Fix will just run through without issue and it will just flick on the screen. However if you get a popup screen asking about source file and destination file then you are missing some files in the data directory that the program needs to perform a Fix. The associated TPE file is missing from the data directory, this is a small file that just contains the structure of the main data file. Copies of all the TPE files are in www.zipzap.eu/downloads/TpnUK/TPEfiles and can be downloaded and copied into the data directory to get around this in the short term.

In extreme cases you may need to copy the data from the network directory to a new directory on the local C: drive then alter the Data Path in Utilities to this, then run the File Manager. If the File Manager works successfully on the local C: drive but not on the network drive then you have some kind of permissions issue in Windows. You will need to speak to whoever manages your network.

Windows / Skype for Business jumps up instead of normal Skype
« on: June 20, 2017, 04:19:24 pm »
This is a rather annoying update from Microsoft and connected to Office.

Even when you close Skype for Business it tells you that it is still running.

It pops up on a call rather than the version that you want.

Skype for Business is stored on your computer as lync.exe

To stop this from taking over, browse for lync.exe on the Search line and rename it to oldlync.exe then restart.

In Windows 10 go into Task Manager and Startup. Disable Lync.
