Sameday Express / New release with Outlook update - Version 2.79 - July 2025

Updated to work with the Office 365 version of Outlook.

No changes in settings are required. Just click on the Outlook 'send' button instead of SMTP.

Windows / MS-SETTINGS - disappeared after update

Windows 11. Did an update last night (22/06/2025).

This morning all the Settings are missing!

Suggested action by Microsoft - reset Windows! Drastic!

Ran SFC /SCANNOW from elevated command prompt. It reported no problems at all but afterwards Settings reappeared.

Mmmm.

Large update to deal with TPN Light Pallets and sending emails via Outlook.

Extensive rewrite to many areas.

The changes to Outlook were due to two factor authentication requirements.

Operational Status / Change in landline number to 01604969582

Our change of landline provider has not gone as well as we would have liked. We were using Skype VOIP with a dedicated number. It proved to be reliable and was considerably cheaper than our previous supplier. Indeed, international calls were very cheap.

We were surprised a short while ago to find out that Microsoft were stopping their product. While we've had few issues, the current administration seems to have been overwhelmed by this change and we have little faith in getting a smooth transfer of our landline number within a reasonable time. 

In the end we decided to get a new local number rather than wait.

Our new number is 01604-969582.

We now understand that the old number will probably work for some time as it looks like Microsoft are doing a partial rethink.

Updates on the Palletforce import to make things easier.

Also rewrote the Check for Problem Jobs in Utilities.

Note that there is now a special menu item to look up Irish postcodes

Windows / Windows 10 - going .. going ..

If you can upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 then it's about time that you did it.

Unlike Windows 7 it seems that Microsoft are not going to let Windows 10 drag on.

If your computer cannot upgrade then you may end up buying a new one.  :-[

TPN Invoicing / Bug/Quirk in TPN Invoicing

In these exact circumstances :-

1. You set an account to provide individual invoices for individual jobs
2. The first one has an additional charge of some type
3. You auto email the invoices

The totals on the first emailed invoices do not include the additional charge but if you print the invoice it is fine.

This has proven to be quite an odd one as the emailing of invoices and the standard invoice run use exactly the same code. It's as though it was going to print another page.

Added Eircodes to the Extras menu. Loc8ate was already there.

Both allow an Irish postcode to decompile the associated address. Note that this routine uses Google Maps to decipher it, as supplying an Eircode licence to every user would be a phenomenal cost and require quarterly updating.

Operational Status / Site swap

Over the weekend we have swapped the Lincoln and Northampton computers over to test our resilience in the event of a site failure.

We have also moved our main code server from Windows to Ubuntu Linux to stop the annoyance of unscheduled updating which left the computer needing a reboot to install remaining packages.
